Philips hat heute neue Firmware-Updates für folgende 2010er HTS-Produkte veröffentlicht:

Dabei wurde auch das dort ebenfalls vorhandene Tonaussetzer-Problem angegangen.

System Software Version 52

  • Improve audio drop out from tuner and external sources.
  • Improve Blu-Ray disc playability

Philips gliedert TV-Sparte aus – Joint Venture mit TPV (Update 4)

Philips gab heute bekannt, dass das Unternehmen seine TV-Sparte in ein Joint Venture mit TPV Technology (ansässig in Hong Kong) ausgliedern wird. Philips wird einen Anteil von 30% an diesem Joint Venture halten.

Das Joint Venture wird für das das Design, die Herstellung, die Verteilung, das Marketing und Verkauf Philips’ TV-Business weltweit (außer für China, Indien, USA, Canada, Mexiko und einige südamerikanische Länder) verantwortlich sein. Philips wird seinen Namen für das Joint Venture (für zunächst 5 Jahre) zur Verfügung stellen (unter bestimmten Qualitäts- und Kundenstandards). Im Gegenzug erhält Philips Lizensierungserlöse.

Bis Ende 2011 soll das Joint Venture vertraglich besiegelt werden.

Laut Nachfrage von heise.de bei Philips ändert sich für die Kunden und den Handel nichts.

This partnership places Philips Television business at the core of an industry ecosystem, which has television and its components as its strategic focus. The joint venture will leverage the strength of the Philips brand, innovation power and trade relationships, with the additional scale and manufacturing strengths of TPV.

Q: Does it mean Philips is leaving the Television business?
A: No. It means Philips wants to make it stronger.

Q: Will Philips Television continue to be made? Will Philips continue to bring new ranges to the market?
A: Yes. Philips Televisions will continue to be made. Philips already launched a new range of Televisions in March and will have a new range in September.

Q: I own a Philips television does anything change for me?
A: No, nothing changes. The warranty, guarantee and support stay the same.

Q: I want to buy a Philips Television, does anything change for me?
A: No, nothing changes. Philips’ commitments in terms of warranties and guarantees will remain unchanged. Philips Television will continue with great innovation in picture quality, SmartTV (incl. Net TV) and Cinema proportion Televisions (like Cinema 21:9).

Only the ownership changes, not the products or the people (in principle all current Philips TV employees will go over and will form the new company!).

Neue universelle 3D-Brille von XPAND (X104) in 2011 – YOUniversal 3D Glasses

nachdem ich bereits berichtete, dass die von Philips ausgelieferten 3D-Brillen (PTA02, PTA03) von XPAND und leicht abgewandelte X103-Modelle sind, kommen hier ein paar Informationen zu der neuen Generation der universellen 3D-Brille.

Die neue Brille werden als YOUniversal 3D Glasses betitelt und tragen intern den Namen X104.

Informationen zu 3D-Shutter-Brillen X103 von XPAND (PTA02, PTA03)

2010er 3D-kompatible TV-Geräte von Philips werden mit 3D-Brillen von XPAND betrieben. Einerseits gibt es das PTA02-Set, welches auch den passenden IR-Synchronisationsempfänger enthält und anderseits gibt es die PTA03-Einzelbrillen, die als Zusatzbrillen hinzugekauft werden können oder für den Cinema 21:9 (58PFL9955) benötigt werden (dieser hat bereits den IR-Empfänger integriert).

Die in den PTA02er und PTA03er Sets enthaltenen Brillen sind leicht abgewandelte XPAND Universal 3D Glasses (X103). Im Gegensatz zu den Originalbrillen von XPAND haben die 3D-Brillen von Philips (PTA) keinen Ein-/Ausschalter und keine LED. Die Brillen sind direkt für Philips-Geräte abgestimmt.

XPAND plant auch ein Firmware-Update für die X103 Universalbrillen. Diese sollen jedoch nur weiter TV-Modelle unterstützen und nicht unbedingt Kompatibilitätsprobleme beseitigen. Da die PTA-Brillen Spezialanfertigungen für Philips sind, wird sich solch ein Update (wahrscheinlich) nicht auf die PTA-Brillen auswirken.
