After receiving daily messages to update I finally gave in and installed 3.0.246.5 yesterday.
Previous Software TPM71E_R.001.002.171.000.
So far everything works OK.
Setup :
TV Philips OLED 55POS9002 (audio out = “multichannel” via HDMI/ARC).
HDMI 1 : Soundbar
HDMI 2 : Pioneer surround system
HDMI 1&2 : UHD off
Soundbar(5.1)/combi Blue-ray player Philips HTS 9140 via HDMI/ARC coupled via Easylink start.
TV Optical-out connected to Pioneer VSX-529-K audio/video 5.1 surround system.
Telenet cable-TV decoder connected to Pioneer VSX-529-X HDMI input.
I use the soundbar for “daily” watching TV, its starts automatically with TV via Easylink .
The Pioneer surround is only used (no Easylink) and started manually for surround material from either Blue-Ray player(Philips Soundbar) or NETFLIX 5.1 or other surround material.
Also it provides the ability to listen to digital stereo radio via the cable TV decoder.
Tests so far :
No more issues with ARC/audio cut-offs.
Previously software , I had audio cut-offs and/or audio bursts when switching directly from Netflix 5.1 audio to any TV channel PCM audio or any Youtube stereo audio. This firmware bug has now presumably been solved.
Small detail : Soundbar no longer shows the audio type (PCM, Dolby B, …) on its display, no problem for me.
I have the impression that image quality on simple HD source has improved.
Also I feel faster apps startup and switching .
I have tested only HD material on Youtube so far = ok. I still need to upgrade my NETFLIX to UHD …
Great blog Alex !!!
