              Hi!

Aren’t older firmware versions available? With the stupid newest version the philips TVs are freezing all the time with 6162 series TVs. (I have a PUS506162)

TPM177E_012.002.070.001 seemed to working fine, but it’s impossible to find… :(

                  Thank you very much!

Can you tell me if I can use the normal update process? ( https://toengel.net/philipsblog/2011/02/03/philips-firmware-downgrade-anleitung/ )

Or do I need to use one of these?:

                  Philips: TV Firmware Downgrade Anleitung

Which one? Is the firmware Android based? I can’t tell. And if such do I must to use “update 9”

                    Hi,

no – you don’t have Android… So you need to do it via the buttons on the back of your TV…

So I can use the original guide? ( http://www.supportforum.philips.com/en/showthread.php?966-Is-there-a-Guaranteed-way-to-downgrade-140.XX-software&p=3176&viewfull=1#post3176 )

Wait… “Update 6” says the TV button is for Android TVs and the original guide says to use the remote control. So I need to use the original steps but with the TV button instead of the remote?

Sorry to keep bothering you, but I don’t want to mess this up and end up with no TV.

Thanks again! It seems like you’re the only one on the internet who can help. :)

                          Hi!

So I tried both the remote and the button on the TV but neither brought up a firmware update/downgrade menu. The TV button switched the TV on then immediately off. Pressing “down” on the remote blinked the led for a while then the LED stopped blinking and stayed off. (If I did it again the LED blinked again for a while then stayed on after. ) But nothing else, when I pressed the on button on the remote it started normally.

Should I use the normal firmware update from usb mode then? Or would that be fatal?

I decided to risk it, with the normal method. The update process successfully completed, and the TV works. (at first the TV froze when I had to “OK” the update process. But with this TV and its crappy FW it’s not surprising)

Thanks! Hopefully the freezing will stop now.

                            Thanks for all the help!
