Hi Toengel,
I need your help on the reboot issue of my tv. I have a Philips 47PFL7008K/12 model LCD TV. I’m in trouble with a continuous restart problem.
This problem occurred within the first few months after I bought the TV in 2014. I received support from the technical service under warranty, all they had done was installing the up-to-date firmware, but somehow the problem was solved at that time. After that, the problem appeared 2-3 more times at intervals of several months. In one of them I called the technical service second and the last time. Thereafter, the problem reoccurs once or twice a year. I solve it in 1-2 days by downgrading or upgrading firmware, disconnecting all cables, etc.
I was using it for the last 1 year without any problem. The last time, after 1 year the problem appeared again in this week. I tried whatever I can do, but it doesn’t stop reboots. I previously brought up the topic in the Philips forum several years ago (I did not try to find the links at the moment). Philips has never accepted that there is such a problem.
I tried anything I can do to stop the reboots, but no vain:
disconnected all the cables and waited for hours in this condition (one of them was about 40 hrs),
waited for half a day in the stand-by position with only the power cord plugged in,
applied the firmware downgrade and upgrade processes (mainly tried the versions: 171.51, 173.45, and 173.67),
paired and un-paired the remote control,
factory reset and reinstalled tv from the settings menu,
turned-off all other devices at home like wi-fi modem, another tv in the kitchen, etc. while waiting and starting tv.
Sometimes, even during the firmware installation, reboots continue, then somehow the installation is completed. If I wait on the successful installation screen, it stops reboots. Just after pressing the on/off button on the remote control, reboots continue after the tv powers off-on itself.
After waiting for a long time the power cord unplugged, the first reboot can be 9-10 seconds later, the next reboots become more frequent. For example, in first reboot the TV remains on and reacting commands from RC for 10 seconds, after that it remains on for 4-5 seconds. Finally, I realized yesterday that it remains on for 60 seconds after down/upgrading the latest firmware, reinstalling tv, and resetting factory defaults from settings menu, while my wi-fi router turned off.
What exactly could be the source and the solution of this problem?
Is this a problem related to the faulty capacitors on the mainboard?
Is there a way to reset all user data on the TV eg. with a secret key combination?
What are the systemA and systemB rootfs partitions for? One installation is being written on A, the next one is on B.
Are the files in /data/data partition copied between the A and B from each other? Are these files contain user data or data from firmware? If the files are user data and corrupted, how to clean them?
Waiting for any help and suggestion.
Best Regards,
Abdurrahman Takataş
