Dies ist der Diskussions-Thread zum Blog-Eintrag: Philips: Neue Firmware für 2023/2024/2025er High-End-TVs mit Google TV (TPM231WW: 201.100.086.203).

Oh, this is too bad… really.
The WiFi works on my 65OLED819 max 150-200 mbit/s while the router is 1m from the TV… , This is very small speed for bigger files, better quality movies…
My wifi is OK, I have wifi 6e, which can transfer and achieve 900mbit/s without an issue to my phone or notebook, but not for the TV…
So Philips f*cks everything with disabling the USB ethernet option… so big shame, if true… Google adds it there and Philips removes a very useful function…
Where should I contact the support, please?

Hi,
I seriously doubt that Android has removed support (driver) for RTL8153 that is present since version 7.1. According to the android.googlesource.com site they’re still there. But of course you can compile it without them if you want…
Štefan
@Tomi can you please post a screenshot of such a speed where frequencies are visible with channels and band? I will force them the router to the same setup and try… because my is such a slow, it gains max 200 mbits…

Hallo Alex,

Thank you @Tomi.
well, this is just what the WiFi protocol shows, but the real bandwith and real data transfer speed is different.
It shows me on this screen the same as for you, but the real speed is just max 200… :-(Try to measure the real speed for example via this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.analiti.fastest.androidThis measures your internet connection speed from your provider, but If you have more speed than 200 Mbps, it needs to show you more as well.
I have a 1 gbps internet connection. When measuring from computer connected via WiFi, it shows me 900mbps, the same on my mobile phone and same on my laptop. On a wired computer it shows even 997 mbps.
But the TV 65OLED819 shows max 200 mbps…
I got today 4 different USB to ethernet adapters, none works. It is not even recognized by the TV… F&ck Philips…
Until now, we had at least the ethernet adapter (starting from android 9 and 5 years old model), but with this update and forcing the wifi, I have just lagging picture, lagging sound, and periodical freezes also… such a shame for a 2500€ TV…
Please, @Alex, dont you have any insider friend, who can do anything with the ethernet over usb?
Thank you.
Mysaq
Hi @Štefan and others,
The vast majority of USB GLAN adapters are RTL 8153 based. Is any of the ones you tried ASIX based (for example TP-Link UE306)? I’d like to know if it’s worth trying.
Also, if anyone wants to report it too: https://tv-sound-monitors.philips.com/s/contactsupport

wupsss you are right ist not going over 210… but I use plex with movies with 90GB and it plays no problem…
so in my case dont need more speed.
and if you enable dev options you find under USB option for LAN
i didnt test it yet
Štefan
@Tomi I tested the developer option, also with enabling, setting and restart, etc.. nothing helps. Plex re-encodes and forces smaller bitrate, so it decreases the bandwith, what decreases quality. I use a SMB server and playing everything with the TV directly, as it should be.
@Mysaq I tested the following:
AXAGON ADE-TXCA – AX88179A
AXAGON ADE-25R – RTL8156B
AXAGON ADE-SR – RTL8153 – this work well for multiple years, until this ATV14
Interlook S3J-8153 – RTL8153Mysaq
@Tomi The RNDIS USB Ethernet in Dev options won’t work. It’s for sharing mobile internet of the Android device (cellphone) with a computer connected via USB.

Hello guys ,sorry for offtop, pls help me, I can’t found any firmware on my pus8139 , because I have problem with vrr, frames are freezing in single player games like I played in multiplayer with huge ping , I want to roll back the firmware , thx u
Tomi
Stefan!
I have some usb 3.0 gigabit lan in my office and i will test it. I know it works on my mobile phone so i will test it tomorrow and let you know.
Btw what program are you using for movies?
I switch from kodi to plex
Biggest problems i have are with atmos content some times it just does not work from kodi but works on plex…
Štefan
@Tomi thank you, I really appreaciate.
I use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.gtvbox.videoplayer
It plays almost everything, incl. DolbyVision (Profile 5 and 8) from MKV. It can convert Profile 7 to profile 8 on the go). It can skip HDR+ and plays DV if DV also present. At the same time it has network possibilities to load files from shared folder. The best app on the market.
Tomi
Stefan!
This app is new to me:) never heard of it:)
One thing: does it show watchd shows/movies? I have 2 gtv’s and plex syncs the watched shows across platform and if i stop watching movie in one tv i can resume it on another. That is the main reason i switch to plex.
And i set it to stream original quality so i dont think its compressing any thing
