BigdragoGast
Tried these test files (dolby vision):
I used the default video player on TV: No purple lines.
Then I played the same files on nvidia shield with default video player, now I get purple lines again.MatzGastDu brauchst den Upgrade loader
HerbieGastHabe natürlich den upgrade loader von dieser Seite verwendet
RavenGast@Bigdrago Wow! some beautifull LG demo’s.
As for me and my issue with HDMI/ARC 5.1 audio issue, I start to make my following end conclusion :
1) HDMI/ARC does apparently not support E-AC3 ( Dolby digital Plus ) encoding, maximum is AC-3 ( Dolby digital 5.1) ?
2) NETFLIX uses E-AC3 encoding for its 5.1 audio and certainly for its DOLBY ATMOS ?
3) So if I add point 1) + point 2) => HDMI/ARC won’t work with NETFLIX 5.1 audio because it is E-AC3 encoded ?I put a lot of question marks because I simply do not have the knowledge to be able to confirm all this…
BigdragoGastToday I tried with certified 8k hdmi cables. But still the picture is purple and bad when playing content with dolby vision.
Mad-CGast@BigDrago
The Shield can only handle max HDCP 2.0 maybe that’s why.
BigdragoGastHdcp has nothing to do with dolby vision becoming purple?
RavenGastFound this interesting Denon article on HDMI/ARC and wanted to share with you all.
Which audio formats are supported by the Audio Return Channel (ARC)?
The Audio Return Channel (ARC) introduced with HDMI 1.4 function in AV receivers in general supports the same formats that are traditionally send through S/P-DIF interfaces (optical or coaxial connections). These are the following formats:
PCM (2 channel)
Dolby Digital (up to 5.1 channel)
DTS Digital Surround (up to 5.1 channel)
Please note that in the original specification of the ARC no HD or 3D sound formats are defined. Moreover, many TVs do not support to send all of these audio formats from all internal sources via ARC, e.g. some TVs may support different formats for TV and different for integrated streaming apps. Furthermore, ARC does not include an information channel to tell the TV which formats are supported by the AVR so that it is necessary to choose a format in TV which the AVR is supporting. In addition to that, more recent Dolby Atmos capable AV receivers and soundbars started to support Dolby Digital Plus (up to 5.1) via ARC. Only recently, TV manufacturers included to output these formats. Even if the format is correctly identified on earlier AVRs, it cannot be guaranteed that Dolby Digital Plus is played back correctly on such AVRs from ARC.
Note that this also includes Dolby Atmos (based on Dolby Digital +) from Netflix.
The enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) function (a feature introduced for HDMI 2.1) in selected AV receivers will allow for additional formats to be transported via eARC:
Dolby Digital Plus (up to 7.1 channel)
Dolby TrueHD (up to 7.1 channel)
Dolby Atmos
DTS-HD High Resolution Audio (up to 7.1 channel)
DTS-HD Master Audio (up to 7.1 channel)
DTS:X
Moreover, eARC includes a mandatory information channel telling the TV which sound formats are supported by the AVR so that the TV outputs best possible format automatically.RavenGastMy final conclusion on HDMI/ARC Netflix 5.1 (Dolby digital plus 5.1/ATMOS ) audio not working on Pioneer VSX-529 K.
It is the E-AC3 codec (Dolby digital plus) via HDMI/ARC on my (old) Pioneer surround system which is no longer compatible with 55OLED804 HDMI/ARC.
(I found on an internet forum exactly the same problem described by a LG user with Pioneer VSX-529 K surround system.)
@Toengel : If Philips would re-introduce a Dolby Digital(AC-3)audio setting on top of stereo/multichannel/multichannel bypass this would solve this issue. (This was available on 2017/18 TV versions )So to make Netflix 5.1 audio (E-AC3) work today and as @Coni described in this thread :
* Use optical out Dolby Digital (Dolby digital plus E-AC3 from Netflix is converted by TV set to Dolby Digital AC-3)
* Use HDMI control ON , Easylink ON : this switches to correct HDMI input on Pioneer and switches it OFF together with TV
* Note : TV Easylink cannot swith ON Pioneer, TV Easylink can only switch Pioneer OFFHave a nice weekend and keep covid safe
Great forum!!

Danke HoffiHerbieGast55PUS7354/12
