      @Wesley

yes i know about this issue too, happy for me i dont really use the TV for gaming.

But i noticed if TV is set to passthrough the windows sound configurator cannot play 5.1/7.1 correctly.

Switching to Multichannel on TV solves this issue but then other sound sources (TV apps) sound weird on the soundbar…

Yeah bypass only stereo works because bypass is meant for codecs like dolby atmos etc.

But windows is pcm so only multi channel works yes, but in multi channel there is a small sound delay and quite noticeable.

What if you use Windows Atmos Codec with TV on passthrough?

Since it will transform the 7.1 into Atmos on the PC and not on the TV.

Theoretically no TV processing = no latency?

Yes that would be great but moonlight doesn’t support dolby atmos (most games neither) they use pcm audio for 99% of the games and moonlight can’t send atmos over streaming.

But having the second hdmi from mini pc to soundbar fixed the problem having correct sound now correct mapping and no delay only a stupid second screen in windows haha.

This tv is a mess sound wise, latency in multichannel ans no true HD atmos in earc on 2025 models also passhtrough only works with codecs it can do pcm above 2.0 haha , luckily all my devices go to my Soundbar so the TV doesn’t handle it anymore.

By the way I tested the hdr  banding you talked about and yes I can see it in some games but only when watching in the air the bleu sky.

I do play with dtm most of the time because sadly hgig is not night enough for me on the 810

AI enhanced more brightness, and to be honest it works great in 810 almost no hdr clipping like some TV do with dtm.

Nostly windows calibrated to hgig 1250 nits, tried dtm calibrating 2200 nits (what becomes 4000 nits like dtm is) but didn’t sae much of a difference

                  Hello forum,

I’m having issues between my Zidoo Z9x 8k and the Philips OLED810… my Zidoo keeps restarting abnormally… And I think I’ve figured out where the problem is coming from: CEC instability causes EDID transmission instability… which causes my Zidoo to crash as it communicates on the EDID at every event…

The worst thing is when the TV’s HDMI is set to Auto…

I’ve never had as many problems with a TV as I have with this one… It’s a shame, the picture is good but the firmware is rubbish and the CEC management is very, very poor, which means that Philips has eARC problems, which should also be independent of CEC, but if you set Easy Link to “off,” you lose eARC (which is stupid).

                    Hi Thierry,

the behavior of your Zidoo Z9X 8K is very suspicious. I haven’t heard of any other device behaving like this before. The Zidoo restarting itself is particularly unusual.

Media devices like this should ideally be designed so that if there’s an error in the E-EDID communication, it doesn’t restart, but simply displays the image incorrectly, and at best, an error message is shown.

Could the problem be with the Zidoo firmware?

As I mentioned at the beginning, I haven’t seen or heard of this behavior in any other device in various forums. I’m not saying that the current Philips OLED TPM231WW firmware doesn’t also have an E-EDID issue, but if it did, why isn’t the restarting behavior of your Zidoo also present in other devices?

Have you tried testing whether a different Zidoo firmware causes the same error?

                      <p style=”text-align: left;”>Hello  Thomas,</p>
No, I can’t go back… However, without mentioning the restart, the Zidoo displays the TV’s EDID… and when my Zidoo restarts, it no longer displays the same EDID…

                      For example, it normally displays:

                      4k 60hz (444:8 422:12 420:12 rgb:8)

                      4k 50hz (444:8 422:12 420:12 rgb:8)

                      4k 30hz (444: 12 422:12 rgb:12)

                      4k 24hz (444:12 422:12 rgb:12)

                      Dv: yes

                      HDR: yes

When it restarts, it sometimes displays the same color priority except for

                      Dv: no

                      HDR: no

Sometimes it does not indicate any color priority, just

                      Dv: yes

                      HDR: yes

Other times it displays different color priorities.

What causes my Zidoo to restart, I think, is its sensitivity to EDID changes with high latency… I think the Zidoo is too sensitive and causes the restarts (Zidoo at fault), but this is due to the instability of the EDID and CEC (Philips at fault)…. The worst is when I’m in auto mode…it sometimes causes 2 or 3 restarts in a row…because it loses the EDID too often

It would be nice if Philips took its customers seriously and released an update to stabilize the CE (because I think that might be the source of the problem).

An announcement of a new update would be great.

Thierry: Did you try a different HDMI Cable and did you see the same behaviour (just a guess)?

Yes, I’ve already changed the cable… but if it were the cable, I would surely have problems with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, True HD, etc.?

I’m going to try another cable and change the HDMI port on my Denon to see what happens…
