Yes u do have the duplicating hdmi 2 bug like everyone is saying. One is called soundbar (no video here) and the other one is called SHIELD,

I have 2 devices on the Soundbar a shield and a Nintendo switch. If I want to get display from the switch or shield I have to select hdmi 2 SHIELD on the TV and have to change soundbar settings  to hdmi 1 or hdmi 2 and I get a display.

 

For me the bug of 2 times hdmi 2 isn’t that big of a problem, change the name of hdmi 2 to something you always know which one is the real display maybe?  Like me one is called Soundbar and one is called shield and the shield is always the one with display no matter if it’s the shield or switch etc

I renamed the entries, but that’s not the problem.

For me, there are two major problems with this management:

1-I can’t use my Zidoo without turning on the AVR, so I have to: select the Zidoo, the AVR turns on, black screen, reselect Zidoo and turn off the AVR (bearing in mind that on my AVR I haven’t enabled the “on + source” option, I’ve just enabled the “change source” option).

With my other TVs:

I turn on the Zidoo, the AVR switches to the Zidoo input (without being turned on), and the TV switches to the AVR’s HDMI, and I get the Zidoo image.

2- If I disable CEC, the Philips no longer displays the Zidoo image.

With other TVs: if I disable CEC, I turn on the Zidoo, use the AVR remote control to select the Zidoo input (media player), and use the TV remote control to select the AV input corresponding to the AVR, and I can see the images from the Zidoo.

Philips has a completely idiotic view of CEC, and I’m being kind… I wonder if they really have any engineers… or technicians…

TCL, Hisense, and Panasonic understood this without any problem… Philips is stupid.

The proof is that it’s a software problem (which they could solve quickly if they were motivated), but they prefer to replace an HDMI board… poor people…

Wow so without Avr turning in it can do video passhtrough that’s amazing but do you have even sound then?

Luckily I dint have that many problems because my hardwareb but I know a lot of people do,

That the TV doesn’t support true HD over earc and dts HD is a shame, even older Phillips and budget phillios tvs from 2025 have it but top oled models doesn’t……

Sonthey think replacing hdmi port will fix the problem that’s stupid as hell….

Yes, absolutely. The bypass function on my Denon AVR allows sound and video to pass through when it is turned off, and this works on my TCL and Panasonic…BUT NOT ON PHILIPS.

I’m not sure he thinks changing the HDM board will solve the problem, but it saves them from having to think about and find a solution since they’re not the ones who have to deal with it… lol

nothing will change after the replacement of the mainboard (there is no special HDMI board).

I know that, the technician knows that, but apparently those are the guidelines from Philips… That’s why I think this is stupid… Does Philips always have this kind of problem?

Hallo DidneyWorl1,

auf meinem 55OLED908 habe ich aktuell die .207 Firmware und habe seid dem Update auf diese Version keine Probleme mehr mit HDR Inhalten.

Also keine zu dunkle Szenen oder Artefakte.  Von daher habe ich auch noch nicht auf die aktuelle .220 Firmware aktualisiert.

Ich lasse alles über meinen Denon AVR-X2800 laufen, ohne CEC zu verwenden, habe ich auch nicht die Probleme mit dem anscheinend fehlerhaften CEC-Protokoll seit der Android TV 14 Version.

Mein Denon ist am HDMI2 vom 908 angeschlossen. Alle anderen Geräte, also ein Technisat Satelliten Receiver, ein Fire TV Sick und eine PS5 sind am Denon AVR angeschlossen.

Damit alles korrekt geschaltet wird, nutze ich eine Logitech Harmony Elite, die alle Geräte entsprechend meiner Harmony Einstellungen ein- oder ausschaltet. Aus diesem Grund habe ich auch alle CEC Einstellungen an mein Geräten abgeschaltet beziehungsweise deaktiviert.

Danke für die Info. Aber du hattest die schwarzen HDR Artefakte auch oder? So flackernde schwarze Linien ab und zu?

Will nur sicherstellen das wir über das selbe reden weil bei mir hat jede der 4x Android 14 versionen dieses Problem.

Android 12 hat das Problem nicht, dafür aber andere…

Nein, ich habe nicht die von Dir beschriebenen Probleme mit den flackernden Linien oder den seltsamen kurz auftretenden Artefakten im Bild.

Ich habe zwar davon auch schon in anderen Foren gelesen, aber bei meinem 55OLED908 habe ich das nicht feststellen können.

Wie gesagt aktuell bin ich total zufrieden mit meinem 908 und habe nichts zu beanstanden.

Auch die von einigen beschriebenen Probleme mit dem Ambilight habe ich nicht, aber dies könnte zum einen daran liegen, dass ich nicht die aktuelle .220 Firmwareversion sondern die .207 verwende, zum anderen habe ich einen 908 also einen 2023’er Philips OLED.

Ich meine es so gelesen zu haben, dass das Ambilight Problem bei 2024’er und 2025’er Modellen auftritt.

Ich verfolge aber alle Themen bezüglich der Philips Firmware, deren Probleme als auch deren vorhandenen Verbesserungen in vielen Foren.

I found the cause of my Zidoo reboots: the HDMI mode on the Philips.

The “auto” and “optimal: 144Hz” modes cause the EDID communication to fluctuate too much, and my Zidoo, which is set to 23.976Hz, reboots because the dialogue does not have time to complete correctly.

In “standard” and “optimal: cinema” mode, the CEC and therefore the sending of the EDID is more stable and reduces reboots. What’s more, if I set the colors to 10 bits, I no longer have any reboots, whereas with 12 bits I still have a few.

So I’m wondering, knowing that 12-bit in 4:2:2 uses less bandwidth than 4:4:4 but puts more strain on the Philips processor…could there be a small issue here… (causing my Zidoo to restart, or making the EDID transmission unstable or fluctuating)?
