I’m increasingly tempted to install the update for this android 14 but I’ll probably wait for the ota update, maybe they’ll fix it idk. As long as I hope it comes out.

I am still in contact with Dutch Philips support. First, they asked me which USB ethernet adapter I was using. I answered that I use the Rankie USB Network Adapter, USB 3.0 to RJ45 Gigabit.

They wrote back to me that “they confirm that this adapter technically falls within specifications”. But they also wrote that “I should take into account that this adapter is not compatible with the latest software version”.

And now for the best part, they also wrote “we advise you to use another adapter that is officially supported or use wifi”.

Unfortunately they did not include a list of “officially supported adapters”, so I asked them if such a list exists. To be continued…

          Hi Maurice (and others),

The exact model doesn’t really matter. All the USB3 1Gbit adapters share the same chipset – mostly Realtek RTL8153 and the rest has ASIX AX88179. So I doubt there is any “officially supported adapter”.

However, maybe it’s really ATV14 thing and we should blame Google instead. If you check the following thread, network adapters no longer work also for Chromecast 4K with Google TV 14.

Anyone tried the android 14 update for Chromecast 4k
