mit der Präsentation der Philips TV-Modelle des ersten Halbjahrs 2021 gibt es auch ein Update der P5 Picture Processing Engine (P5 Perfect Picture Engine). Nach der Einführung der P5-Komponente “Inhaltsklassifikation mit künstlicher Intelligenz” (AI, Artificial Intelligence) in der Generation 4, gibt es in der Generation 5 eine Erweiterung dieses Teils des P5-Prozessors. Daneben gibt es noch weitere Verbesserungen, die das TV-Bild aufwerten.
Hier zuerst ein Überblick über die verschiedenen P5-Generationen (Klick zur Vergrößerung):
Philips P5 Picture Processing Engine: Comparisson of all Generations (up to Gen 5 AI) Im Rahmen der 2021 eingeführten OLED TVs der Serien OLED706 und OLED8x6 sowie der neuen MiniLED-TVs der Serien PML9506 und PML9636 wurde die Inhaltsklassifikation um eine 6te Kategorie erweitert: Film . Um Inhalte einer entsprechenden Kategorie zuweisen zu können, wurde eine Philips-eigene Datenbank mit Videoclips der letzten 30 Jahre zum Trainieren der einzelnen Kategorien genutzt. Die “künstliche Intelligenz” im Namen kommt daher, dass für das Training neurale Netzwerke genutzt werden. Ein in der Bildverarbeitung übliches Verfahren.
Philips TV 2021: P5 Gen 5 AI-Komponente Um die AI-Unterstützung zu aktivieren, kann im Bildmenü des TVs der Bildmodus “AI” gewählt werden. Wie dies aussieht und wie der AI-Demo-Mmodus gestaltet ist, hatte ich bei der Einführung der vierten Generation des P5 beschrieben .
Erkennt der P5 nun via AI, dass Filminhalte vorliegen, kann der Nutzer zwischen 3 Filmmodi wählen:
Eine weitere Verbesserung ist die Einführung der Funktion Fast Motion Clarity (FMC) , welches die Funktion eines Scanning Backlights übernimmt. Hierdurch wird Bewegungsunschärfe (motion blur), die durch den sogenannten “Sample & Hold”-Effekt entsteht, verhindert bzw. reduziert. Somit wird das Bild schärfer (und ohne neue Artefakte) und dank 100-Hz-Panels kommt es auch nicht zu großflächigem Flimmern. Die TV-Software wird für diese Funktion 4 verschiedene Stufen anbieten: Aus, Niedrig, Hoch und AI.
Neben den bisher unterstützten 4 HDR-Modi HLG, Dolby Vision, HDR 10, HDR10+ kommt nun auch die Unterstützung von HDR10+ Adaptive
Zu guter Letzt werden die Messwerte des Lichtsensors besser aufbereitet, um SDR- und HDR-Inhalte mit optimalen Kontrast darzustellen.
