Besitzer der Philips Fidelio AW-Lautsprecher (z.B. AW3000, AW5000 oder AW9000) mussten über die letzten Jahre immer wieder sehen, wie die Funktionalität der Lautsprecher abnahm. So wurde die intergrierte Spotify-Funktion seitens Spotify abgeschaltet (da eine alte API in den AW-Lautsprechern genutzt wurde) oder in Kürze stellt der Streaming-Dienst JUKE seinen Dienst ein .
Jedoch besitzen die Philips Fidelio AW-Geräte einen durchaus sehr guten Klang und müssen nicht auf das Abstellgleis kommen, um mit der Zeit zu gehen. Mit einfachen Mitteln ist es möglich, die AW-Geräte zu einem Alexa-Lautsprecher aufzurüsten.
Alle Philips Fidelio AW-Geräte besitzen einen 3,5 mm-Stereo-Line-Eingang (“MP3 Link” genannt). Im Gegensatz zu vielen Geräten neuerer Bauart, schalten die AW-Geräte nicht nach einer Zeit in den Standby, wenn diese auf den Line-Eingang geschaltet sind und kein Signal mehr erhalten (ob dies nun ein Bug oder Feature ist, kann ich nicht sagen – jedoch in diesem Fall sehr willkommen). Dies ermöglicht es, die AW-Geräte mit einem Amazon Echo Input zu verbinden und somit zu einem vollwertigen Alexa-Lautsprecher umzurüsten.

Zum Einstellen der Philips Fidelio AW-Geräte auf den Line-Eingang wird die AirStudio+ Lite App benötigt (Android , iOS ):

Philips AirStudio+ Lite App: MP3 Link (Line-In) Nach der Insolvenz von Gibson Innovations ist die App auch nicht mehr die Neueste (sie war es davor auch schon nicht) und es hat sich in meinen Tests auch gezeigt, dass die App unter Android 9 zwar funktioniert, jedoch immer nach einer WLAN-Verbindung fragt (obwohl eine besteht) und somit nicht nutzbar war. Es gibt hierfür aber eine Lösung, die ich bereits Ende 2012 gebloggt haben: Der Zugriff auf die AW-Geräte via Webbrowser.
Da der Amazon Echo Input auch ein Klinke-zu-Klinke-Kabel beiliegen hat, es es mit dem Kauf des lautsprecherlosen Echo Input getan: Anschließen. Einrichten. Läuft.
