Philips nutzt seit einigen Jahren drei verschiedene Systeme als Basis:
Android TV im Premium- und Mainstream-Bereich (inkl. Philips SmartTV mit der Philips App Gallery)
linuxbasiertes System mit Philips SmartTV und der Philips App Gallery im Mainstream-Bereich
TV-Geräte ohne Netzwerk-/Internetfunktionalität im Einsteigersegment
Mit dem Jahrgang 2018 wurde das unter 2. genannte System überarbeitet und bekommt den offiziellen Namen: Philips Smart System Saphi.
Saphi ist eine Abkürzung und steht für:
S = Speed (Geschwindigkeit)
A = Agility (Agilität)
P = Performance (Leistungsfähigkeit)
H = Heritage (Kulturerbe)
I = Integration (Integration)
Mit Heritage/Kulturerbe ist gemeint, dass weiterhin die alten SmartTV Apps noch unterstützt werden, d.h. die Philips App Gallery.
Die GUI ist dabei dreigeteilt:
Eine Menüzeile mit den Hauptpunkten Quellen, Fernsehen, Apps, Suche und Einstellungen
Details zu den unter 1) gelisteten Punkte (z.B. Eingangquellen)

Die Reihenfolge der Icons im Menüband 2 kann neu angeordnet werden. Beispielsweise kann so im Quellenmenü HDMI-Port-2 an erste Stelle geschoben werden.

Philips: 2018: Philips Smart System Saphi Die 2018er Philips Saphi-Geräte benutzen ein Linux Betriebssystem auf einer Hardware-Plattform, die einen Mediatek-Chip (nach meinen Informationen einen MT5802) nutzt. Vorteil dieses Chips ist es unter anderen, dass diese den Videocodec VP9 mit Profil 2 in Hardware unterstützt. Dieser Codec wird von YouTube für 4K- und HDR-Inhalte genutzt. Aktuell ist noch nicht bekannt, ob die vorhandene YouTube-App auf der Saphi-Plattform auch 60 fps unterstützt – dies versuche ich noch herauszufinden.

Letzteres jedoch ohne HDR, da Amazon bestimmte Voraussetzungen für die HDR-Freigabe macht (neben der allgemeinen Zertifizierung und der daraus resultierenden Freigabe der App). Hier scheitert es an der technisch möglichen Helligkeit der Displays.
