nachdem die 2012 Top-Modelle der 9000er Serie veröffentlicht wurden, sind ein paar Fragen aufgetaucht, die ich versuche zu beantworten.

So kommt bei der 9000er Serie der Begriff “Micro Dimming Premium” vor. Dieser beschreibt die Art der Hintergrundbeleuchtung. In diesem Fall ist ein “2D Dimming” (Direct LED) gemeint…

bei der eine große Zahl von LEDs gleichmäßig hinter dem Panel angeordnet ist. Dabei sind die Backlight-LEDs in über 200 Segmente aufgeteilt, die individuell angesteuert werden können. Beim Dimmen der Hintergrundbeleuchtung wird die Intensität auf der Grundlage des dargestellten Signalpegels in jedem Segment dynamisch moduliert: Hinter den Bildbereichen, in denen dunkle Szenen dar-gestellt werden, wird die LED-Intensität individuell gedimmt und hinter schwarzen Bereichen des dargestellten Bildes ganz abgeschaltet. Hierdurch kann das Panel ein wesentlich tieferes Schwarz darstellen als dies auf TV-Geräten mit Hintergrundbeleuchtung nach dem Edge-Prinzip möglich ist.

Micro Premium Dimming beseitigt die Nachteile des Micro Dimming an Edge-LED-Panels. Bei Edge-LED-Panels sind die LEDs in zwei Steifen auf beiden Seiten des Bildschirms angeordnet. Diese Anordnung bringt es mit sich, dass sich eine Veränderung der Intensität der LED-Hintergrundbeleuchtung immer auf den gesamten Bildschirm auswirkt. Daher werden bei Displays mit Edge-LEDs immer Hintergrundbeleuchtungspegel verwendet, die einen Kompromiss zwischen dunklen und hellen Bildbereichen darstellen.

Der Vergleich zwischen Micro Dimming und Micro Dimming Premium zeigt deutlich, woher die Qualitätsunterschiede stammen: Je individueller die Segmente einer LED-Hintergrundbeleuchtung angesteuert werden, desto besser ist das Dimming. Die Anzahl der Segmente ist hier entscheidender als die Anzahl der verwendeten LEDs.

Die wichtigste Frage, die sich das interessierte Publikum dabei immer stellt: Wieviele LED-Zonen haben die beiden 9000er TVs. Hier nun die Antwort:
