der (neue) Standard HbbTV  – auch als “Videotext 2.0” bekannt – kommt in letzter Zeit immer mehr in das Blickfeld der TV-Interessierten. Ich versuche deshalb kurz zu beschreiben, worum es dabei eigentlich geht:

Dabei gibt es zwei Möglichkeiten, wie diese Hybrid-Informationen zum TV bzw. zur Set-Top-Box gelangen können.

HbbTV 1.5 Specification Overview

Wie in der obenstehenden Grafik zu sehen ist, kann ein sogenanntes Hybrid Terminal sich zu zwei Netzwerken gleichzeitig verbinden (Broadcast- und Broadband-Netzwerk) [Quelle 2].

Die HbbTV-Spezifikation (in Version 1.1.1) basiert dabei auf bereits existierenden Standards und Web-Technologien wie [Quelle 3]:

Mit den Erweiterungen der Version 1.5 werden zusätzlich folgende Standards unterstützt:

Neben diesen hinzugekommenen Standards kann ein 7-Tage-EPG jetzt aus dem Broadcast-Signal heraus einheitlich für alle HbbTV-Empfänger automatisch generiert werden – auch für solche, die nicht an das Internet angeschlossen sind.

HbbTV-Kompatibilität von Philips TV-Geräten

Damit HbbTV genutzt werden kann, müssten TV-Geräte eine HbbTV-fähige Software haben. Bei Philips wird dies über den integrierten Opera-Webbrowser sichergestellt. Die erste Philips TV-Generation, die einen HbbTV-kompatiblen Opera-Browser integriert hat, ist die 2011er TV-Generation (xxPFLxxx6). Bei diesen ist HbbTV in Version 1.1.1 integriert.

Beispiel

Ein sehr gutes Beispiel für eine gelungene HbbTV-Umsetzung kann bei der ARD betrachtet werden. Entweder kann man sich auf den Webseiten von ARD Digital Beispielbilder anschauen oder man drückt während man ARD schaut die rote Taste bei HbbTV-kompatiblen Endgeräten (bei Philips TV-Geräten sollte man immer die neuste Firmware installiert und in der TV-Konfiguration HbbTV aktiviert haben).
