mit der Vorstellung der letzten 2022er Philips TV-Geräte – namentlich die Serien OLED907 und OLED937 – wurde auch die neueste Generation der P5 Perfect Picture Engine eingeführt. So kommt im OLED937 die sechste Generation des Bildprozessors zum Einsatz. Wie es auch in den vergangenen Jahren der Fall war, erhält das Flagschiff auch dieses Jahr einen Dual-Chip (das PLUS bei AI), welcher ein paar Features mehr bietet als die Single-Variante (AI-Version), die beim OLED907 , OLED8x7 , OLED707 und den MiniLED-Geräten zum Einsatz kommt.
Zu den Neuerungen im Vergleich zur P5 Generation 5 mit AI+ Generation 6 mit AI+ zwei neue Feature: Advanced HDR Tone Mapping und VRR Shadow Enhancement . Bevor ich jetzt ins Detail der neuen Features gehe, erst noch eine Übersicht aller bisherigen P5-Versionen, die verbaut wurden:

Bei dieser Funktion, die nur bei HDR10-Inhalten (also nicht Dolby Vision) Anwendung findet, wird jedes Frame soweit untersucht und optimiert, um Inhalte immer mit höhster Leuchtdichte (im Sinne der optimalen Leistung des OLED-Panels bei 800 nit) darzustellen, ohne dass es dadurch zu Clipping (Überstrahlungen) kommt. So werden Inhalte die bis 800 nit aufgenommen wurden linear dargestellt und bei Inhalten, die mit 4000 nit oder 10000 nit aufgenommen wurden, kommt mit der neuen Funktion das Tone Mapping auf 800 nit zum Einsatz.
Weiterhin können HDR-Inhalte bei denen die Spitzenhelligkeit bei 300 nit festgelegt wurde den vollen Dynamikumfang des Panels ausnutzen. Hierzu gibt es drei Einstellungen im Menü (“HDR Perfect”):
Minimum: Entsprechend des UHDA -Standards werden die 300 nit (Peak) beibehalten
Medium: der Dynamikbereich wird auf bis zu 550 nit erweitert
Maximum: der Dynamikbereich wird auf bis zu 800 nit erweitert
VRR Shadow Enhancement

Das Gamma aktueller OLED-Panels – einschließlich der neuen OLED EX-Versionen – ist so optimiert, dass der korrekte Schwarzwert bei der Bildwiederholfrequenz des Displays von 120Hz angezeigt wird. Bei den neuesten Spielekonsolen, die VRR verwenden, kann die Bildwiederholfrequenz von Inhalten jedoch zwischen 48Hz und 120Hz variieren. Alle Inhalte, die mit einer Bildwiederholfrequenz unterhalb der 120Hz des Displays zugespielt werden, können zu einer Überladung der Subpixel des Panels führen, was einen erhöhten, ungenauen Schwarzwert zur Folge hat.
