Disney+ App unter Android TV nur in Stereo über SPDIF – Lösung für Dolby Digital 5.1

wer noch einen alten Receiver in Benutzung und diesen via SPDIF mit seinem Android TV verbunden hat, kommt normalerweise auch in den Genuss von Mehrkanal-Tonausgabe. So kann Dolby Digital 5.1 über die internen TV-Tuner, via USB-Zuspielung, Apps (zum Beispiel Netflix und Amazon Video) via SPDIF an den Receiver übertragen werden. Jedoch gibt es auch Apps, die nur ein Stereo-Signal via SPDIF übertragen, obwohl 5.1 zur Verfügung steht. So auch die Disney+ App für Android TV
Zuerst möchte ich nochmal kurz ausholen, welche Formate SPDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface ) am TV übertragen kann:
LPCM 2.0
Dolby Digital (bis 5.1)
DTS Core 5.1
Zurück zur Disney+ App unter Android TV (also die, die direkt aus dem Google Play Store auf einem Android TV installiert werden kann). Wenn man seinen TV via HDMI-ARC an ein Soundsystem angeschlossen hat, kommt bei unterstützen Streams auch Dolby Digital 5.1 Ton an. Verbindet man TV und Receiver im selben Setup via SPDIF erhält man nur 2.0 Stereo. Dies hat mich bewegt, mal den Support von Disney anzuschreiben. Fazit nach einer kleineren “Verständnisschlacht” war, dass Disney die Ausgabe von 5.1-Ton via SPDIF unterbindet .
Also muss eine andere Lösung her: ein Audio-Extractor, der mit den Ton aus dem HDMI-ARC-Signal extrahiert und via SPDIF weiterreicht.
Fündig geworden bin ich recht schnell auf Amazon – und das auch sehr preiswert für unter 20 EUR:

Diese kleine Box kann auch anderweitig genutzt werden, da sie verschiedene Ein- und Ausgänge hat.
Ein- und Ausgänge des Audio-Extractor In meinem Setup wurde einfach der TV via HDMI-Kabel mit der Box verbunden und anschließend mit optischen Kabel mit dem Receiver. Jetzt nur noch den Hardware-Schieberegler an der Box auf den ARC-Eingang gestellt (A). Fertig. Und endlich 5.1 in der Disney+ App …
