Philips TV 2024: OLED+ 65OLED959 – Ambilight Plus

Ambilight Plus was created by combining the resources and speciansts of TPV’s R&D centers all around the globe (Ghent, Xiamen, Singapore. Taipei) and is a testament to TPV’s global cooperatlon and development capabllities. A key element is the translucent mini Jens placed on each of the 192 individually driven LEDs. These lenses divert light to create a 2D grid pattern capable of pro)ecting distinct shapes and forms. The patented Ambilight Plus technology will be first featured in this year’s flagship OLED+ 959.

In 2024, Ambilight performance made another major step forward thanks to the combination of LEDS and minilenses.

A minilens is a small optical lens capable of bending and converging the light (from the LED) to a specific zone next to the TV. By adding multiple LEDs and multiplex (convex) lenses, a 2-dimensional Ambilight Plus grid can be projected on the wall.

The main benefit of the Ambilight Plus technology is the possibility to create visible details or shapes, together with excellent movement tracking of these objects in the halo around the TV.

By deliberate design, the Ambilight Plus halo is less detailed compared to the the Ambilux halo, as users were sometimes distracted by the very detailed halo of the Ambilux system.

Thanks to the minilens technology, the performance of Ambilight Plus is the perfect blend between Ambilight and Ambilux.
