in den 2019er Philips OLED TV-Modellen der Serie 804 bzw. 854 verrichtet die 3te Generation des Bildverarbeitungsprozessors P5 sein Werk. Ursprünglich 2017 eingeführt und ab den 7502er TV-Modellen verfügbar, kam 2018 die Funktion Perfect Natural Reality hinzu. 2019 gibt es jetzt das erste große Upgrade des P5.

Philips: P5 Gen 1 vs. P5 Gen 2 vs. P5 Gen 3 Verbesserungen gibt es beim P5 Generation 3 dabei in drei Bereichen:
Philips 2019: P5 Gen 3 Improvements Das heißt: “sauberere Bilder mit höherer Schärfe”, “sichtbar besseres Bild mit feineren Linien und kleinsten Details, um eine größere Bildtiefe zu erzielen” und “deutlich realistischeres Bild mit mehr Details und nochmals besserer Tiefenwirkung” (um jetzt mal die Pressemitteilung zu zitieren).
Weiterhin wurden Probleme im HDR-Bereich angegangen, die in der Vergangenheit immer wieder für Kritik gesorgt haben:
In dunklen Bereichen ist das Bild “abgesoffen”. Mit dem P5 Gen 3 wurde dies verbessert und Details gehen nicht mehr verloren, d.h. dass dunkle Bereiche “heller” und Details wieder sichtbar sind.

Das Color Clipping in hellen Szenen wurde behoben.
Das Banding in Farbregionen mit wenigen Farbabstufungen wurde behoben.
Um diese Verbesserungen umsetzen zu können, besteht der P5 der dritten Generation nicht mehr nur aus einem Chip, sondern ist jetzt eine exklusive Dual-Chip-Lösung. Genauer gesagt, kommt neben dem normalen P5 noch ein P5 Pro Chip zum Einsatz, der für die Verbesserungen im SDR- (“cleaner, sharper, brighter picture”) und HDR-Bereich (siehe oben) durch höhere Bit-Tiefe und Auflösung zuständig ist.
Die als Generation 3 betitelte Dual-Chip-Lösung ist im ersten Halbjahr 2019 nur im OLED804 und OLED854 verfügbar.
Aufgrund der zusätzlichen Hardware lassen sich die Verbesserungen auch nicht auf die älteren P5-Jahrgänge übertragen.
