    @Gunb: You’re making simple things terribly complicated :) To compare whether two versions of a file differ, all you need is md5sum – it’s available for virtually every platform, from Windows and Mac to Linux.

    P.S. You can use sha256sum – because md5sum is not officially recommended, as it has already been broken and you can calculate the same hash for a different file, but it is sufficient for our purposes.
