I finally got another USB stick to try with and it worked. The differences between them was:

Didn’t work: Philips Snow Edition 8GB 21 MB/s read, 10 MB/s write.

Did work: Intenso Rainbow 4GB 28 MB/s read, 6,5 MB/s write.
