Philips gab heute bekannt, dass das Unternehmen seine TV-Sparte in ein Joint Venture mit TPV Technology (ansässig in Hong Kong) ausgliedern wird. Philips wird einen Anteil von 30% an diesem Joint Venture halten.
Das Joint Venture wird für das das Design, die Herstellung, die Verteilung, das Marketing und Verkauf Philips’ TV-Business weltweit (außer für China, Indien, USA, Canada, Mexiko und einige südamerikanische Länder) verantwortlich sein. Philips wird seinen Namen für das Joint Venture (für zunächst 5 Jahre) zur Verfügung stellen (unter bestimmten Qualitäts- und Kundenstandards). Im Gegenzug erhält Philips Lizensierungserlöse.
Bis Ende 2011 soll das Joint Venture vertraglich besiegelt werden.
Laut Nachfrage von heise.de bei Philips ändert sich für die Kunden und den Handel nichts.

Only the ownership changes, not the products or the people (in principle all current Philips TV employees will go over and will form the new company!).
